About The Curriculum

The curriculum at Jasudben M. L. School follows the dynamic syllabus set by the CISCE Board, New Delhi. It incorporates all elements of academic interests that cater to the challenging requirements of education in the 21st Century.

The curriculum empowers students to contribute towards a humane, just and pluralistic society with a commitment to excellence. A strong foundation in the lower classes plays a vital role in forging lifelong learning competencies.

The school follows the CCE [Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation]. The assessments are broadly classified as SA [Summative Assessment] and FA [Formative Assessment].

The Primary Section was started in 1979 by Dr. Madhuri Shah as ‘Bloomingdales’. The first Principal Mrs. Kishori Mehta was a visionary and was able to build a formidable reputation for the school by appointment of the best staff, latest teaching techniques and thus attracting cosmopolitan, smart students.

Features of the Primary Curriculum

Theme based -

The curriculum is theme based rather than topical, which encourages development of life skills. We believe in giving “Direct Experience” through various teaching methods and strategies to encourage learning and to create a comfortable educational setting for children.

Child-Centered -

The approach of the curriculum is ‘Child-centered’, which is designed to develop the individual and social qualities of a student. We capitalize on the children interests and empower them to take an active role to explore and learn about their world.

Wide range of learning experiences -

An interactive teaching - learning method is employed with a focus on the project method. Audio Visual aids help to increase learning and hold the students’ interest. We use a range of transactional processes varying from classroom discussions, field visits, hands–on experience, experimentation, model making, poster making, etc. Teaching goes beyond textbooks. Games and puzzles are utilized to explain concepts

The School also offers a wide variety of programmes and activities outside the regular curriculum to help broaden students learning experience. Co-curricular activities re-energize the students’ minds and imagination as also competitions across a gamut of subjects

Integrated approach -

The curriculum encourages an integrated approach to teaching-learning, so as to enable children to comprehend learning experiences as a unified whole, to help them see meaningful linkages within and across subject areas. Here, learning is a joyful experience for all children and they are able to understand not only what they learn, but also how this learning is relevant in their lives, both present and future.

Teaching methodology -

Recognizing the fact that there are different learning styles and each child has a unique way. The curriculum is a unique blend of different methods such as interactive / participative method, demonstrative method, brainstorming, role play and cooperative learning. We lay emphasis on learning by doing, where children are encouraged to construct their knowledge through social interactions.

School Timings:

The academic year begins in June and ends in April.
The timings for students are: Monday to Friday - 8.20 a.m. to 2.50 pm
